Background

STOCKHOLM! project is a newly established non-profit cultural organization based in Stockholm. Founded in 2025 as the sister organization of PRAHO! project (Prague), it expands our work into the Scandinavian context and strengthens the link between Central and Northern Europe. By connecting experiences from the Czech Republic and Sweden, we aim to create a platform where local initiatives can grow while also contributing to broader European collaborations.

Our mission is to use participatory and inclusive art in public space as a tool for engagement, community building, and democratic empowerment. We believe that art can serve as a catalyst for dialogue and social change, where every voice matters. At the same time, we recognize that what works in Prague may not necessarily work in Stockholm. That is why we build on years of experience while adapting our methods to local conditions, needs, and partnerships.

Why Stockholm?

Stockholm is a natural next step for us: one of the co-founders of PRAHO! project has been living and working here for many years, providing us with strong local anchoring and the opportunity to actively develop Czech-Swedish collaborations.

In addition, in 2025 we were granted the Erasmus+ project Art & Design Without Borders, which connects organizations in the Czech Republic and Sweden and enables us to build new structures for cooperation precisely here in Stockholm.

What do we build on?

STOCKHOLM! project builds on the experience of PRAHO! project, which has been active in Prague since 2021 and has carried out numerous artistic interventions in public space, educational activities, and international collaborations. Together, we form an interconnected structure that strengthens the transferability of methods between Central and Northern Europe.

What do we do?

We work with artistic interventions in public space – ranging from installations and participatory events to workshops – where people are invited to co-create and engage in dialogue through artistic expression.

A central part of our mission is the inclusion of underrepresented groups in cultural production and public debate. By creating safe and open platforms, we aim to provide space for diverse voices, perspectives, and experiences.

We also develop educational and community programs that foster inclusion, democratic values, and cultural exchange. Here, art, pedagogy, and civic engagement come together to build long-term relationships and generate new knowledge.

Finally, we participate in international projects and EU collaborations – including Erasmus+, Creative Europe, CERV, and Horizon Europe – where we contribute our methods while also learning from other actors across Europe.
