Last week, we had the pleasure of celebrating Valborg with you at Frihamnstorget — and it’s hard to put into words just how much it meant to us.

At STOCKHOLM! project, we believe that through art in public space, people are invited to learn from their surroundings — and from each other. Valborg, with its long Swedish tradition of welcoming spring, felt like the perfect moment to step outside, gather together, and share something simple but meaningful.

We brought two small invitations with us. At the Compliment Card station, people made their own cards — a kind word, a pick-up line, an icebreaker — to keep, give to a friend, or hand to a complete stranger. At Talk to Strangers!, we asked people to borrow back that kindergarten-era curiosity: pick a question from the box, ask it to someone you’ve never met, and pin their answer to our wall. Slowly, together, a mosaic of new friendships took shape.

We’re genuinely overwhelmed by how many of you came to join in — to make your own compliment cards, to answer the questions, to bring back that childlike curiosity for an afternoon. It means a lot to us that people stopped by even when they didn’t know us, and that they were curious enough to want to learn what we’re about. With some of you, we ended up talking almost into the night.

That’s the whole point, really. Valborg marks the turn into something new — longer days, lighter evenings, the kind of weather that makes it easier to actually look up and notice the people around us. And for one afternoon at Frihamnstorget, it felt like that’s exactly what was happening.

Thank you for being part of it. We can’t wait to see you out there again.
